TEAM VIBE PILIPINAS BAGS 3 TROPHIES FROM 2008 WORLD STREETDANCE CHAMPIONSHIP IN AMSTERDAM

Filipinos have already proven their craft for dance all over the world. This started when the Philippine Allstars won the 2006 World Hiphop Championship in California making a noise in the hiphop industry as well as the entertainment scene not just in the Philippines but all over the world. Props to them because the world now looks up and recognizes Filipino talents as world class.
Last year, another crew also proved the greatness of Filipino talent in dance and hiphop. TEAM VIBE PILIPINAS, a professional hiphop dance crew based in the Philippines who set out internationally to connect and collaborate to dancers all over the world, won the 2007 Asia Pacific Masters Dance Championship held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. The championship opened doors for Team Vibe to go out of the country and share the world class talent of Filipinos.
The team shares their ups and downs as they struggle to fullfil their God given calling to dance and share their talent to the ends of the earth. When an opportunity comes their way and they know God gave it to them, they find all means to go through it because they know in the end the glory is well deserved.

Last November 22, 2008, Team Vibe was invited to compete for the 2008 MARS World StreetDance Championship held in Eindhoven Netherlands. The team at first did not consider since the aifare going to Europe was way more expensive than anything else and the time the team was invited, it was their downest times. However the organization were willing to provide the accommodation, transportation and food needed for our trip except for the fares. The team thought this opportunity does not come in so often and during the last minute the team finally decided to take part in it. The team was having troubles raising sponsor for their trip because the Visas were on hold up to the last minute. The Dutch Embassy approved all their visas 2 days before the flight date. The money needed to be raised was P500,000 (and the team still needs to meet that amount up to now.) The day before the flight date, the team funds did not come close to half of the expected amount but surprisingly the flight tickets for 7 members got booked without the team paying any amount at all yet! What team vibe went through was beyond their control. God placed them in a position where there is no way out but to move forward for the battle. And so team vibe flew to Amsterdam to represent thr Philippines and Asia and brought home the glory to the Philippines.

The team participated in the Solo male&female battle, Duo battle, Team competition, Team showcase and crew battle. Team Vibe won 2ND place, silver, at the team competition; 3RD place, bronze, at the crew battle; and 3RD place, bronze at the solo female battle(won by Cheska Tabifranca). The results may have been a little out of hand but all the people who witnessed the competition believed that team Philippines should have brought home the gold in all the 3 team categories. Team Vibe may not have brought the gold but these were enough. The team was safe in the fact that for the judges and the audience (especially the Europeans), Team Vibe Pilipinas deserved and was still Champion. Team Vibe gained all the respect from the international bboys, choreographers and even the founders of Hiphop.

It was not a smooth and wealthy path for the team to travel upon yet team vibe has grown to be stronger not just in dance battles but also in their spiritual and emotional battles just to live their life with their passion and calling. One of the founders of Hiphop blessed the team with a ver inspiring message: "People may think you are crazy, but the harder they laugh at you the more you discover you are doing the right thing."

People may think we are ridiculous to set out and compete when we have no money and everything else looked impossible. But thats what makes our God mighty to save, He proves through His work in us that for Him nothing is impossible and he fights with those who struggle for his glory, those who are athletes for his cause.
CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAM VIBE FOR WINNING HIS GLORY AND FOR BRINGING HOME TROPHIES BACK TO THE PHILIPPINES, home of world class talents...

Name that dance

Dance is continuously evolving everyday because of the workings of the human creative mind. Let us go specifically to hiphop. Originally, the foundational styles of hip hop include locking, popping and breaking.

Now hiphop has evolved immensely due to the popularization of media. Dances are named after famous hiphop song names.

Here are some of the famous songs named to be a dance:
Lean back
Soulja boy
G-slide
Hyphy
Chicken Noodle Soup
and the list goes on...

Its also the other way around. Some songs are entitled after some hiphop move of a dance style. Buck is an example and nowadays hiphop artist put buck in their song titles like, Get Buck In Here.

Funny right? But that's how it goes fo'sho!

Dance Description:

Krumping comes from the acronym, KRUMP which stands for;
Kingdom of Radically Uplifted Mighty Praise.

Originator:
Tight Eyez, Lil C, Big Mijo, Slayer, Pradagy
Region of origin:
Los Angeles

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0efEID-uCtE

It is a social dance movement exhibiting high intensity and radical acts of self-expression to rise above socioeconomic hardships such as poverty, crime, and violence. KRUMP originated among a group of youths on the west coast of which its pioneers are attributed to Tight Eyez a.k.a Ceasare Willis BIG MIJO aka Jo'Artis .

KRUMP is often performed to slow hip hop beats and is contrasted with fast, aggressive movements that run the gamut from foot stomps to chest pops and arm swings. These fast movements can be interpreted as a release of anger, inner turmoil, and an expression of rage or even frustration. It is often confrontational in nature and to an untrained eye, krumping may appear erratic however there are essential elements to this dance form. Some of these elements include: Sync Moves, Power Moves, Taunts, Puzzles, Chest Pops, Bangs, Stomps, and Arm Swings.

Additionally, there are three levels to krumping that are generally characterized by the krumper’s ability to express their energy through the energy of the music. Each level is illustrated by the krumper’s change in energy and movement and often readily acknowledged by the reception from those observing.

Krumpers are structured in groups known as families. Each family consists of a Big Homie, who is considered the leader of the group. The Big Homie is also known to carry the responsibility of being a mentor and teacher. Family members usually hone their skills by apprenticing with their Big Homie. A new recruit or novice to krumping is called a New Bootie or Lil Homie. A Lil Homie will often take the name of his Big Homie (eg if Big Homie is called "Tight Eyes", Lil Homie would be called "Lil Tight Eyes"). Much of the social hierarchy in Krumping communities is determined through competition since krumpers face off against each other in battle scenarios.

Krumping is also often confused for another type of dance called Clowning which offers dance moves from a similar range of movement like Krumping. Clowning is however distinguished by its lighthearted approach as opposed to Krump’s aggressive and angry stylings. The execution of the dance moves in Krumping is also known to be much faster than Clowning.

As seen with the names of the three levels, there are also many terms in krumping that come out of everyday slang such as; “Labbin’” which means practicing for a battle; “Gett Off” meaning to get started or getting a battle started; and “Kill-Off” which means to end a battle.

Krumping became popularized by David LaChapelle’s documentary, Rize and can also be seen in many mainstream music videos and films. KRUMP has BATTLE compitions called EVENTS where krumpers battle to see who is the best examples of these events include KRUMP ARENA, THA D SESSION (Dunamis), THE FED, THE BLICC ZONE, THE REALM, SLAUGHTER HOUSE, THE CAGE, as well as many more.

KRUMP is not all about wild and violent dance moves, it is about expression and a new revolution of movement.

sentimental verses

numb

I have been gripped by the claws of
The coldness of the still air
It stings every inch of my skin
Trapped in it without any feeling
But plain lack of sensation
that crawls up to my spine
Nothing to hold me
Nothing to keep me warm
No trace of touch
The coldness has taken all over me
Reaching through the strings of my blood
It gives nothing else
It lets me feel nothing more than
Just pain and numbness

TEAM VIBE represents Philippines in 2008 World Streetdance Championship

Last year we, TEAM VIBE, won the Asia Pacific Dance Championships in Kuala, Lumpur Malaysia (July 15, 2007). That achievement allowed us to not only showcase the Filipino talent that we believed is world-class, but we we're also able to connect and collaborate with other dance artists from the different Asian regions.

This year, we have been chosen to compete in the 2008 World Streetdance Championship to be held in Amsterdam this Nov 17-22, 2008. This in an opportunity for us again to share and showcase that the the Filipinos are richly blessed in field of dance.

As we start our fund raising campaign, we need your help. Pls support us thru financial means, blogging, reposting, praying, forwarding this message to companies concerned and supporting our fund raising events. As we need to raise US$12,000 for our airfare and visa application.

We, Team Vibe, exist to showcase the Filipino talent to the world, bridge cultural barriers and make known to others the positive message of dance. Dance to glorify the God who has graced us with the talent.

Filipino Pride!

TWILIGHT

Millions of the Twilight saga fans are anticipating the movie that will be showing in November 21, 2008. What is this craze all about anyway? Why has the main character Edward Cullen been compared to the famous Harry Potter?

Twilight is a vampire love story that is so unique from the other vampire stories ever made. It is a modern version of Romeo and Juliet yet not so cheesy despite the teenage love drama going between the character Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. An immortal who has nothing to live for. A vulnerable human who is willing to give up her life for the one who struggles every moment to not take her life.

'When life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it's not reasonable to grieve when it comes to an end." -Twilight

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,
thou shalt not eat of it:
for in the day that thou eatest thereof
thou shalt surely die. -Genesis 2:17

Dance to worship, believe and become.

It's been a year since I started serving the Lord through dance with Team Vibe, my Philippine dance team, and going places to share my passion to different nations. We can say as a team that this trip to Hong Kong for project dance was our anniversary trip. More than just an anniversary trip, it became a journey to renewal of strength and purpose as well as freedom. It was a new testimony we can share proving how God has never stopped working in us and has been faithful to our cause more than we have been for Him. There is so much to share about this testimony but I will just sum it up enough to fit into this blog.

The team was supposed to do a mission trip to China for the earthquake victims during the whole month of July and then transfer to Hong Kong for the Project Dance. That was the plan. Of course God had a different plan for us because He knew us better than to send us off to a mission with our hearts set cold. Individually, each of us was not ready for this because we felt our hearts changed after going through so much over the past year. Personally, I was so filled with fear and I have had a cold relationship with God over the past few months.

And so God brought us directly to Project Dance. Before the trip, I was so sick that I could not get out of my bed for about a week. I was also going through some other problems that I was allowing myself to get stuck in it. Even the days before project dance itself was a physical, financial and emotional rollercoaster ride for us. It was a stranger country for us but God provided us a place to stay in Hong Kong. The owner was a doctor and God miraculously touched me through him and healed my asthma.

God showed us to situations in order for us to realize where we have been and what we have become over the past few months. We met so many people and surprisingly used specific people so He can talk to us personally through them. We were allowed to take part in project dance without having to pay any registration fee, but during the last hour of registration some dancers from Singapore paid 2 from us so that at least 2 from us could take the classes. However on the day of classes, all of us were able to attend the different classes, the organizer talked to one of us and just said, "just go in to whichever class you want to take, it's ok."

It was also the first time we were able to experience worship where everyone was not just singing but using their bodies to sing the words of the songs. Project dance helped us break off the chains that has held us down. It was a project towards being free. Free from our fears, from pain, from sickness and many more that restricts us from moving freely. Usually in our trips we do more sharing than receiving blessing. However, this trip was for us to receive all the blessings we needed in our calling and we all needed to be redeemed through this journey.

2 Corinthians 3:7-18 -It talks about the glory of the New Covenant. This says it all about what this journey has been for us team vibe and for me personally:

"The old way, with laws etched in stone, led to death though it began with such glory that the people of Israel could not bear to look at Moses' face. For his face shone with the glory of God, even though the brightness was already fading away. Shouldn't we expect far greater glory under the new way, now that the Holy Spirit is giving life? if the old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new way which makes us right with God! In fact, that first glory was not glorious at all compared with the overwhelming glory of the new way. So if the old way which has been replaced, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new one, which remains forever!

Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold. We are not like Moses. who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. But the people's minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read , the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. Yes, even today when they read Moses' writings, their hearts are covered with that veil and they do not understand.
But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord-who is the Spirit-makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image."

Now we are on fire again and ready to face the battles because we have faith that He won't ever leave us alone and because we live for His cause. No person or circumstance will drift us away from what he calls for us to do and be. God has already paved our way to the ends of the earth.
